Program Overview
The Fairmount Fellows Program is a full-time, two-year paid work experience for individuals motivated to help meet the needs of the nonprofit sector by working in a dynamic, client-driven consulting environment. Fellows (also referred to as Development Assistants) work closely with Fairmount’s experienced professionals and learn the basics of how nonprofit organizations work, public and private sector fundraising, program design, strategic planning, housing development, and more. During their two-years with Fairmount, Fellows develop & hone their skills in all facets of fundraising for nonprofits, including conducting funder research and strategy development, preparing, editing and submitting grant proposals; & conducting best practices research and interviews related to nonprofit planning studies. At the end of two years, Fellows will possess skills, knowledge & experience that positions them well to pursue a career in a range of fields & sectors, including nonprofits and public policy. Successful candidates possess: excellent writing, editing & organizational skills; strong analytical & communication skills; precise attention to detail & ability to multi-task; facility with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & web research; & a Bachelor’s degree in English, Urban Studies, Journalism/Communications, or another relevant field.

Fairmount reviews all applications and invites the most promising candidates to participate in an interview. Hiring decisions are based on your application, writing samples, interview and references.
